Clavis Libri is a website of reading guides to the classics. Much of each guide is open: you do not need to sign up to read. An account lets you save guides, keep your quiz answers, and link your subscription, if you have one. The rules of use and of the subscription are in the terms of use.
What we store
When you sign in with your Google account, we store your name, your email, your Google profile photo, and the date of birth you provide when signing up. We also store the guides you saved, the answers you gave in quizzes, and the date of your last visit. In this case, we do not receive your password: the sign-in is handled by Google itself.
If you create an account with email and password, we store your name, your email, and your date of birth. The password is never stored as you typed it: we store only a scrambled version, which does not allow the password to be recovered. To confirm your email and to create a new password, we send emails with single-use links, and for a few hours we log failed password attempts to protect the account.
If you subscribe to a plan, Hotmart notifies us of each charge, and we store the plan, the period, the amount, the payment status, the transaction code, and the email used for the purchase. Payment data, such as the card number, stays only with Hotmart: we do not receive it.
What we use it for
To keep you signed in, show your saved guides and your quiz results, unlock what your plan includes, and understand the site’s audience (for example, the age range of readers). We do not sell or hand over your data to anyone, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who else processes the data
Google, for signing in with a Google account; Titan, for sending the account emails; Hotmart, for billing the subscription; and HostGator, where the site and the database are hosted. Each follows its own privacy policy.
Cookies
We use a session cookie, which is created only when you sign in or open an account form, to remember that you are signed in and to protect the forms, and a short 15-minute cookie that stores the page you return to after signing in. The Google sign-in button uses Google’s own cookies, governed by its privacy policy.
Your rights
Under Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (Law 13,709/2018), you can ask at any time to see, correct, or delete your data. When you delete your account, we also delete your saved guides and quiz answers. Purchase records are kept for as long as the law requires. Write to emaildojohn@gmail.com.
