These terms apply to anyone who uses Clavis Libri (clavislibri.com), a website of reading guides to the classics. By creating an account or subscribing to a plan, you agree to them. How we handle your data is described in the privacy policy.
What is open and what is for subscribers
Anyone can read, without signing up, each work’s introduction, plot, chapter summaries, characters, themes, symbols, terms, discussion questions, questions, and the text of the quotes.
A subscription unlocks the rest, depending on the plan:
- Student: the complete analysis of each chapter, the explanation of each quote and of the literary devices, the quiz for each chapter with your scores saved, the full guide, the infographic, the map, and the reading schedule in PDF, and the study workbook with answer key.
- Teacher: everything in Student, plus the teacher workbook, the separate answer key, the workbooks in Word, and the license to use them with your class, described below.
A subscription covers all the works on the site, including those added during the paid period.
Account
The account is created with a Google sign-in or with email and password, and it is personal: do not share or lend it, and keep your password safe. An account with a password only becomes valid after you confirm your email through the link we send. With a free account, you save guides and take the quiz for the first chapter of each work. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian’s authorization to subscribe.
Subscription and payment
Plans have a quarterly or yearly period, with the prices shown on the plans page. Payment is handled by Hotmart, which processes the charge and has its own terms as well. We do not receive your card data.
The subscription renews on its own at the end of each period, at the same price and with the same payment method, until you cancel. Access lasts as long as there is a paid period. If we change the price, we notify you in advance, and the new price only applies from the renewal after the notice.
Cancellation
You can cancel anytime through your buyer area on Hotmart. Canceling stops future charges, and access continues until the end of the period already paid.
Withdrawal and refunds
If you change your mind within 7 days of purchase, you get the full amount back, as provided by Brazil’s Consumer Protection Code (art. 49). The request is made through Hotmart. With a refund, access for that period ends.
How to use the material
- Student: personal, non-commercial use. You may read, print, and annotate the material for your own study.
- Teacher: besides personal use, you may print, copy, and adapt the workbooks for the classes you teach yourself, including on the school’s closed virtual learning environment. The license belongs to the teacher who subscribes: each teacher needs their own subscription.
On no plan is it permitted to sell the material, publish it in an open place on the internet, pass it on to people who are not subscribers, or download it in bulk with automated programs. If that happens, we may suspend the account.
Rights over the content
The texts, analyses, quizzes, workbooks, infographics, and maps of Clavis Libri are ours, and all rights are reserved. The works analyzed are in the public domain. The passages quoted are short excerpts, used for study and commentary, as permitted by Brazil’s Copyright Law (Law 9,610/1998, art. 46, III).
About the guides
Each guide is built from reading notes and checked against the text of the book. Even so, the analysis is an interpretation and may contain errors. The guide accompanies the reading and does not replace it. If you find an error, write to us at emaildojohn@gmail.com.
We may add works, revise texts, and change the layout of the pages. We do our best to keep the site online, but it may go down during maintenance or failures.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the new version is published on this page, with the date. Changes that affect subscribers are announced before they take effect.
Governing law and venue
These terms are governed by Brazilian law. Disputes about them may be brought before the court of your place of residence.
