Queen Mab

A fantastic figure described by Mercutio as the midwife of the fairies. She travels through the night in a tiny chariot and inspires in each sleeper dreams according to their desire: lovers dream of love, courtiers of bows, lawyers of fees. The chariot's wheels have spokes of spiders' legs, and its body is a hazelnut shell. It is not known whether she comes from folklore or was Shakespeare's invention.
