Scene summary
Othello hands letters to Iago for the ship's captain and leaves with the gentlemen to inspect the fortifications of Cyprus. The scene lasts only a few lines.
Analysis
Scene II is the shortest of the act and only clears the stage: it removes Othello so that Cassio can speak with Desdemona, in front of Emilia, at the start of the next scene. It is this innocent conversation between Cassio and Desdemona that Iago will turn into evidence.
