Othello · Act V

The Ambush, the Murder and the Revelation

Scenes in this act

  1. Scene I The Ambush in the Dark Street

On a dark street in Cyprus, Iago posts Roderigo behind a stall to kill Cassio and, in an aside, admits that the death of either of them suits him: if Roderigo lives, he will demand the gold and jewels Iago took from him; if Cassio lives, his good looks make Iago seem uglier, and Othello can expose Iago.

  2. Scene II The Bedroom, the Crime and the End

Othello enters the bedchamber with a light, says that Desdemona must die or she will betray other men, and kisses her as she sleeps, saying he will love her after killing her.
