Literary device

Rhetorical question

A question asked without expecting an answer, because the answer is already implicit, or because what matters is the doubt it exposes.

In The Brothers Karamazov

I thought, brother, when I left, that I had at least you in the world [...] and now I see that there is no room for me even in your heart, my dear hermit. I do not renounce the formula "everything is permitted", and so, for that, you will renounce me, yes, yes?

The "yes, yes?" at the end of the sentence asks for no information; it asks for an embrace. Ivan already guesses the answer, and the question serves to force his brother to say it, or to keep silent and act.
