Karamazovian

In Russian, карамазовский (karamazovsky), "Karamazovian" (our translation), turns the surname into an adjective and names what the family has in common: the strength of the Karamazov earth that Paisy named, the Karamazovian baseness of which Ivan speaks to Alyosha, and Mitya's Karamazovian impulse in the dream about the child. The form laden with disorder, карамазовщина (karamazovshchina), "Karamazovism", appears only once, in Rakitin's mouth at the trial.
